About this opportunity
A premier renewable energy developer is advancing Nepal’s largest clean energy portfolio, featuring an 860MW SolarPV + 4-hour Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) pipeline and a 3,000 TPD municipal solid waste treatment platform, representing a total CAPEX of $1 Billion.
The initial phase—comprising 240MWp SolarPV+BESS across six near-Ready-to-Build projects requiring ~$250 Million CAPEX—is backed by marquee international equity partners and supported by debt letters of intent from a leading domestic commercial bank.
Each project features a long-term local currency PPA, strong profitability, and significant socio-economic and climate impacts. Key risk mitigants and value drivers include eligibility for Sovereign Guarantees from the Investment Board of Nepal, MIGA (World Bank) underwriting, TCX currency hedging, international carbon credit monetization, and Tier-1 EPC execution.
Nepal ($44B GDP, 45% debt-to-GDP, BB- Fitch rating) provides a stable investment framework allowing 100% foreign ownership, attractive tax/duty incentives, and enforcement under the New York Convention. Power sector growth is reinforced by a $500 Million U.S. Millennium Challenge Corporation transmission investment alongside active multilateral and DFI lending.
